Artist Instructions/Suggestions

The goal is to create a symbol, much like the well-known Peace symbol, that conveys the need to “Stop Global Warming.”

It will be a similar, basic, black and white drawing that contains the geometric elements that convey that message; octagon for stop, thicker circle or sphere for globe, thin circle for heating aura (see Downloads). All final work must have these three elements: Octagon and concentric circles and be able to morph down to the three geometric elements.

The challenge is to make a drawing that is much more eye- catching. 3D and optical illusion is preferred. Globe longitude and latitude lines are helpful (see Downloads), but if there is a way to indicate a globe with fewer lines and without shading, that is desirable

A black area around the globe gives it the look of the Earth floating in space is also good. Animation can also be used

Two versions are needed. A black and white version and a color version are needed, but either is an entry in the contest. The color version must have the elements of the Line version embedded (octagon, circles, globe).

No artist signatures or initials can be included. Files submitted should be in modifiable vector format.

Once submitted, files become the property of Stop Global Warming Symbol, Inc. (a non-profit) and may be displayed on the SGWS website and made available for free download.
